Uniform Policy

I missed our last meeting and I would of loved to have been there, but could not make it. I read faithfully my friend Kelli's blog. She keeps everyone updated on the school uniform policy and comments from other parents. I would like to know everyone's feelings on implementing school uniforms within there school district. We are having some major issues here in LISD.

Kelli, myself and other parents have great concern that will be added at this next meeting. I for one will attend this meeting and my voice will be heard.

You can read up on some at my friends blog: http://littlereflections.typepad.com/little_reflections_photog/.

As a teacher in an urban school I have to say I love the idea of uniforms. The children are no longer dressing unappropriately and it a relief for the parents not having to buy so many clothes. There's no competing amoung the kids for brand names or fancy items. I know some people believe it doesn't allow the kids to express themselves but there are som many other ways to do so and they can wear what they want over the weekend. It's only my opinion and I would be okay with my girls wearing uniforms when they attend school too. No more what do you want to wear today or saying that they don't like this outfit. Super easy! Sorry didn't mean to go on. It's only one point of view. There must be a million more. Good luck with this.

As someone who wore a uniform for all 12 years parochial school, I just have to say I didn't die from it. In fact, I was relieved to wear the same thing (or nearly the same) every day because we didn't have a lot of money growing up. I never had to worry about having the latest fashion. School was hard enough on me. At least I didn't have to worry about being a fashion plate.
